Overview
Claude Code is Anthropic's agentic coding tool. It runs natively in the terminal and inside VS Code and JetBrains IDEs, uses agentic search to understand an entire codebase without manual context selection, and executes coordinated multi-file edits. It connects to the tools that power development — version control, databases, deployment, monitoring — and to MCP servers such as GitHub, and it never modifies files or runs commands without explicit approval. Claude Code is included in Claude subscriptions: Pro at $20/month, and Max at $100 or $200/month for heavier usage; alternatively it can run on standard pay-per-token API pricing through a Claude Console account.
